Steven Doughty is a creative professional and educator whose artistic and academic works explore the intersection of technology and the arts. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Engineering Physics and Communication Arts (Theater) from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and later completed an MA in Interactive Media Arts at NYU Tisch Abu Dhabi.
Steven has worked as an instructor of theater production at NYU in Abu Dhabi and now serves as an Assistant Professor of Creative Media & Visual Arts Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. His courses cover film, multimedia production, stagecraft, and scenography and he’s passionate about guiding students towards a holistic understanding of technology and the humanities.
His research examines the interplay between technology, media, and culture exploring how rituals can be understood as a social technology and what roles they play in understanding interactions with other-than-humans and their worlds.
